i bid on another pfaff 1475

and then i left town

 when i returned home

i had a message from ebay

i was the lucky highest bidder

jumping for joy

i quickly paid for my favorite

sewing machine...

it arrived today

in a perfectly wrapped box

i carefully sliced the tape open

and then gasped loudly

as i removed the top layer

of the pretty blue padding

to discover

the poor thing

 had traveled across america

upside down

i suddenly felt like an ob/gyn

trying to decide

whether to reach in

with forceps

 or gently rotate

from the bottoms up position

after consulting

with my team

i opted

to turn the box on it's side

and gently slide her out

simply hoping to give life

to my new baby

in an otherwise

nauseating world...

...unfortunately

it appears our efforts

were in vain

as i inverted her

to the standing position

pieces and parts

 began to fall

in every which direction...

as i stared down into the box

i wasn't sure what to do

laugh at my own

repeat of a mistake

or cry

 for the mind

that packed this delivery

wondering

 whatever were they thinking...

as i held the broken pieces

between my calloused

thumb and forefinger

i recalled the last time

i had won

realizing i'm

averaging three to two

and sixty percent

is better

than none

efaith restored...

it's such a euphoric

feeling

 to end the year...

...with my faith restored

in mankind

do you remember

with the seller

from h e double hockey sticks

then the ten paragraph

email from the attorney

at ebay

when i escalated a claim

that could have been

summarized

in one sentence

the ebay buyer protection plan

doesn't cover broken

stinky sewing machines

well believe it or not

after my ego recovered

i bid again on a pfaff 1475

and lost

so i sorta gave up

but oh how i love

 that machine

best one ever made

i have a few groups

of young teens

 waiting in the wings

for sewing classes

i can't wait to

get started

one more machine

 would be ideal

in sarah's sewcial lounge

so i bounced back onto

ebay

and found one

i bid and i won

it arrived today

packaged perfectly...

in the best

 of condition

even better

than my own

and included

a nice little note

from the seller

thank you mario

you made my day

and restored my faith

in mankind

ebay should thank you

i certainly do

at long last...

i've finally

found my

sewing machine...

...again

after being buried

under boxes and junk

for so long

the last few weeks

my body was craving the

motion of the machine

i started with a

little project

that was almost finished

love me some

chocolate and blue

from verna

by our favorite kate spain

thought that would

give me a boost to

jump back in with both feet

ugh ugh triple ugh

first i have to finish cleaning

the cutting counter

just never enough

hours in a day

smoky pfaff...

on a silver platter

not exactly what i

was expecting...

.

guess that is what i get

for reading my daily

 horoscopes

i bid on another

pfaff 1475

and won

or so i thought

it arrived today

first observation by my friendly ups man

the box is not the greatest

definitely not packed

like the others i've received

still i grabbed the scissors

delicately sliced the tape open

and was immediately

overcome with the disgusting

odor of rank, stale cigarette smoke

damn

 i said over and over with each

item i removed

until

i was nearly sick to my stomach

then once i cut off the bubble wrap

 securing the machine

this piece fell

onto the counter

i picked it up

upon closer inspection

the component that holds it in place

is clearly broken off

in disgust i put it all back into the box

and put it out on the back porch

where it sat

the rest of the afternoon

 and each person who went by

 commented on the smell

i went upstairs to my office

to gather the print out

of the ebay listing

no mention of smoke or

broken parts

i sent a message to the seller

she responded by calling

 our local pfaff dealer

they told her it is normal for that

part to come off

happens with age

if they can't fix it

they will glue it

really???

hmm...

now i am suspicious

of all my other machines

that i have paid to have

repaired there

is glue holding them together

and that got me thinking

is there a greater message here

what am i suppose to learn

then it dawned on me

just as my horoscope read yesterday

i will be handed

a golden opportunity

on a silver platter

this old dog

 just needs to learn a few new tricks

break old habits

now i get it

i think i will go exploring

for a new bernina

fraternal twins...

with ms. 4.0 at home

it's not going well

i think we need a night

alone

i've been faithfully bidding

for months and months

and kept loosing

then finally

luck was on my side and

i won!!!

she runs beautifully

and will soon be ready

for use in the store

taking the corners

with gentle ease

a friend to share the load

... now i admit ms. 4.0 and i

had words the first few nights

she can be a little temperamental

especially when you don't use her

well designed features

...like

the automatic knee lift

and the automatic cutter

and the automatic tension control

i've learned to let go

and just let ms. 4.0 do her own thing

and then she sews like a dream

but there are still days that i want to be in control and

that's when my baby and i

cuddle once more

the latest model

i headed out to look at new cars

i came home with this...

note to husband and/or sons

upon my death...

scrap my car

it's worthless

...my sewing machines...

post them on eBay

they'll pay for the Buckeye season tickets

...for years:)
