like mother, like daughter nears the top of the countdown to 50

...many mothers take
handing down this tradition
for granted...

...i've learned to cherish each moment
patiently waiting, never knowing for sure
if my only daughter
born with Down syndrome
would be capable or have the interest
...imagine my recent thrill

Hi Joyce!

First off, Happy Birthday to you! Hope you had a wonderful celebration with your family.

I read this post about your hopes for passing along the tradition of quilting to your adorable daughter. It struck such a poignant chord in me to see the photo of her moving those fabric pieces around. I'd love to send you a little something to add to the table...if you wouldn't mind emailing me your snail mail address? You can send it to kate {at} katespain {dot} com

I hope you and your daughter share many more joys together.

All my best,
kate spain

My daughter is cognitively delayed, yada, yada, yada. And while she shows interest for about 2 seconds she's the off in her own world again.
That must be awesome for the two of you to be able to share your passion.

My daughter Anna, who is 6 and has Down syndrome thrilled me the other day by reminding me to keep my hands off the "feeddogs so you don't get eaten up". It was the first time she had displayed much interest in the sewing machine. I have great plans for this kid.
